So - yesterday was the big day. A group of us drove up to Ogden to go indoor skydiving. We went through some training instruction beforehand, and then got suited up. We were in flight suits, and we had to wear ear plugs, goggles, and helmets, just as if you were skydiving from a plane. Then we waited in line to go into the wind tunnel for our 60 seconds of fly time. I was really quite nervous at this point. I was the second one of our group to go in. Indoor skydiving is actually much more difficult than you would expect. You lean into the wind, and it lifts you up, then you have to put your arms out, keep your head up, and bend your legs up. The wind is blowing so hard that it can be tough to breathe. I had to remind myself to do that. And it can be hard to maintain your positioning. But the instructor is in there with you the entire time, and he keeps you from going too far up or down. You would think that 60 seconds is really nothing, but when you're actually in there, it's amazing how long a minute can really last. The second flight was a bit easier, and it was more fun because the instructor held onto us and took us up and down in the tunnel, so I think we probably got up about 20 feet. I don't have the actual photographic evidence yet (I'm still waiting for the photos), but I did get a certificate of completion, so that will have to act as proof for now. We also were given a DVD, which we got a chance to watch, and we will try to get some still photos from it.
Hi, my name's Tracie and I'm a Mormon. That being said, I've provided enough context for the conversation I had with the receptionist at work today: Christy: (Showing me a photo) What picture is this movie from? Me: Mmmm, Serendipity maybe? Christy: No...you should know this. Me: I should? Christy: (Finally) It's from the movie "Charlie"! Me: How would I know that? I don't watch Mormon movies. They're dumb. Now that I've let the cat out of the bag, I guess I should also confess that I also don't listen to Mormon pop music (other than the original recording of The Forgotten Carols), or read Mormon fiction. So sue me. Let's face it, it's not like most of them are of real quality anyway. When it comes to Mormon music, I'll stick with my MoTab and the hymns of Zion.
